I thoroughly enjoy your extended-length Posts. You obviously put a lot of thought, time and care into them. They always expand my knowledge and provide nuanced and balanced perspectives. Views and experiences from not only Western Europe and a unique German position, but also from Eastern Europe. I particularly like the linking of present-day issues, for example in the Middle East or Ukraine, to events and circumstances from the past.

I visited the Käthe Kollwitz statue during my last visit to Berlin. I found it surprisingly moving; something difficult to capture in a major public monument or work of art. I’m not sure exactly why I felt this way. Perhaps the concept and composition of a mother and dying son. The heads looking upwards and downwards, the raided knees, foetal position and bare legs of the young man.

It is great you often mention books on the topics you cover. Books of which I should be more aware and consider reading. I must also look down occasionally when walking German streets and acknowledge the stolpersteine.
